With open water swims pending, Team USA celebrates Olympic success with reception at embassy in Paris

USA Swimming's CEO called their Paris experience "a dream come true."

PARIS, France β€” A party in Paris.

USA Swimming is celebrating success at this year's Olympics. In the pool, they've nabbed more than two dozen medals and set world, Olympic and American records.

On Monday, there was an event co-hosted by USA Swimming to celebrate all the success they've had here in Paris, 28 medals so far.

"So far," because we still have a few open water races to go.

On Monday, 13News talked to Tim Hinchey, president and CEO of USA Swimming. He said this experience in Paris has been a dream come true, but that it all started in Indianapolis with the team trials, which he called the greatest swimming event ever.

So naturally, we had to ask him about the 2028 Team Trials.

"These are our greatest friends of our sport right now, so it's hard not to think ahead," Hinchey said. "We are already having those conversations. We are hosting a couple of those executives here in Paris, so we'll keep working on it, but we'd certainly appreciate what happened this year."

We are already looking ahead to 2028, but we're not done yet here in Paris. We've still got those open water swims. Indiana University's Mariah Denigan is back in action later this week, competing in the 10-kilometer marathon.

There's much more coverage still to come here on Channel 13 in this final week of competition in Paris.
