INDIANAPOLIS — Through the past nine days, thousands have made their way to downtown Indianapolis for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials.
Through every concert, heat and event, fans say this week will be memorable.
"It's special and such a surprise," Matias Quintero said.
For young swimmers like the Quintero brothers, watching all competitions makes them want to be future Olympians.
"When I look at them swim, I say, 'that's going to be me one day,'" Emanuel Quintero said.
Every fan here not only got to watch world records be broken, but be a part of them.
"Having all of that happen here in Indy and having these Olympians be named here, we will be able to continue to follow them," said Sam Reel, of Indiana Sports Corp.
No matter what swim club fans are from, they are all now cheering for the same team.
"When you think about it, Team USA is something the entire country can rally around and show that nationwide support," Reel said.
That support doesn't stop at the pool, as fans got to watch Carmel siblings and newest Team USA members Alex and Aaron Shackell take to the baseball mound and throw the first pitch at Sunday's Indians game.
"I couldn't have done it without my sister," Aaron said. "We've been together our whole lives, and of course Indy, the way they filled the stadium every day was great."
"I hope that we can inspire the younger generations to be like us," Alex said.
It's a generation that will always remember this Olympic team and the trials in Indy.
