ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Indianapolis native and Cathedral High School alum Cole Hocker smashed his own meet record at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships on Saturday.

Hocker, competing in the Garden of Life Men's 1500m event on Feb. 17 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, narrowly defeated Michigan's Hobbs Kessler by just 1.25 seconds.

The win was Hocker's second in the 1500m at the USATF Indoor Championships in the last three years. He passed John Reniewicki with three laps remaining and never looked back on the competition.

In addition to smashing the meet record, Hocker also smashed his own personal best time at the meet.

With the win, Hocker has now qualified for the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Scotland on March 1-3.
