GREENFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) - Team USA's Simone Biles shined in the individual all-around gymnastics competition at the Rio Games Thursday night, taking home gold.
Her teammate, Aly Raisman, took home silver in the competition.
The Final Five have really boosted interest in the sport of gymnastics.
Gymnast Jaycie Phelps won an Olympic gold medal in 1996, and now owns her own gym in Greenfield — the Jaycie Phelps Athletic Center.
She said Biles' and Raisman's performances Thursday night were amazing.
"Anytime you can sit down with your kids that you coach and watch an event like that, (it's amazing)," Phelps said. "Simone and Aly were just unbelievable and to watch the girls' faces while they were watching the competition, and to see their eyes wide open, getting so inspired, it was incredible to watch."
She said that every four years when there's an Olympics, there's a big rush in business for her.
"Their (kids') inner Olympian comes out and they want to be like Simone and be like Aly, and be part of Team USA," Phelps said. "So, the rush is always a lot of fun at this time, and it's just keeping on top of it and getting staff in here who want to be a part of the journey."
