INDIANAPOLIS β Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was back on the field and throwing passes Tuesday.
Richardson's agent, Deiric Jackson, posted a short video on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing the first-round draft pick throwing a pass Feb. 13.
According to ESPN Colts reporter Stephen Holder, the workout took place in Jacksonville, shortly after doctors cleared Richardson to resume throwing.
"Early word is his trainers had to hold him back," Holder wrote.
Following the Colts' Week 18 loss to Houston, which eliminated Indianapolis from the playoffs and ended their season, Richardson said he hoped to resume throwing in weeks, which matches the timeline for Tuesday's workout.
Holder also commented that Richardson's surgeon said his recovery is ahead of where it was expected to be.
Though Richardson wasn't throwing with his full strength in the short video clip, it's a sign that he could be on pace to participate in the Colts' offseason workouts this spring, then training camp in July.
Richardson's rookie season was sidetracked by an ankle injury in his starting debut, followed by a concussion in Week 2, then the sprained AC joint in his right shoulder that kept him out of the last 12 games of the season.
βIt's a tough balance, it was a little like this with Andrew (Luck)," general manager Chris Ballard said last month. "Instinctively, when you get into a game, you react to whatever your instincts take you to. The same thing happens with Anthony. I don't think Anthony is reckless by any stretch. But learning when to get out of bounds, when to get down versus when you go for it, those are things he's just going to have to learn.β
Richardson had surgery on the shoulder in October.
