INDIANAPOLIS — DeForest Buckner is staying in Indy as one of the highest-paid defensive linemen in the NFL.
According to multiple reports, including from ESPN and NFL Network, the 30-year-old has agreed to a two-year, $46 million contract extension with the Colts to keep him in Indianapolis through the 2026 season.
The Colts confirmed a contract extension with Buckner Monday morning, but did not provide any information on the length or value of the deal.
A three-time Pro-Bowler, Buckner was slated to enter the final year of a four-year, $84 million contract he signed with the Colts after being acquired in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers.
Buckner hasn't missed a game over the last three seasons, and has tallied 61 sacks, 544 tackles, 80 tackles for loss and 161 quarterback hits in eight NFL seasons.
In a social media post in early April, Buckner weighed in on large contracts handed out to defensive tackles this offseason, writing, "DT market crazy. Y'all better start teaching your kids to put their hand in the dirt."
