INDIANAPOLIS — Colts fans heading to Sunday afternoon's season opener will be able to experience the game in an open-air environment.

Around midday on Saturday, Sept. 7, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay posted a graphic to social media saying the roof of Lucas Oil Stadium will be open when the Colts take on the Houston Texans for their home and season opener.

Irsay followed that post up with another in which he humorously quotes former President Ronald Reagan by writing, "MR. GORBACHEV, OPEN UP THIS ROOF" followed by "AND window."

This will be the first time in 2024 that the roof and window will be open at Lucas Oil Stadium during a Colts game. The roof was expected to be open during the Colts' Aug. 11 preseason game against the Denver Broncos, but a "mechanical issue" forced the roof to stay closed

Kickoff between the Colts and Texans is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.
