INDIANAPOLIS — It's NFL Week 6, and Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin joins us this week for Inside the Huddle.
Indianapolis is coming off a loss last week in Jacksonville. It was so close, the difference coming down to a couple of key plays.
"Yeah, just tough game," Franklin said. "Losing there on the road against a familiar foe. You know, offense definitely did a great job of giving us a chance to win. Defensively, not the performance we want but looking forward to a chance for making it right this week at Nissan Stadium in Tennessee."
The team has had moments this season where things look really good, then all of a sudden these explosive plays happen. Has Franklin been able to put a thumb on what's going on with this?
"I think the key to us is just consistency, making that decision every single play, staying focused and continuing to believe in each other and keep playing. I think we've touched on the type of defense we want to be, we've just got to keep being that team every play," Franklin said.
Is there a sense of urgency right now with another division matchup approaching?
"I mean, it's a monster game. Obviously, Tennessee is a talented team. They've got plenty of great players on their team, but the reality of it is we're down 0-2 in the division. We need to get a win," Franklin said.
There's a lot of chatter about defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. Dave asked Franklin if the players trust in Gus and what he's presenting as a game plan?
"Oh, no question," Franklin said. "You know, I think adversity gives you the opportunity to come closer and learn a lot about each other and through our three years here with Gus, we've known no shortage of adversity, but we know the type of man he is and we know he's going to keep going 'til the end and we'll keep riding with him 'til the end."
And the season is young, right?
"Come on now, we gotta keep going, just gotta keep your head down and keep going," Franklin said.
Riley Kid of the Week
Each Wednesday we recognize a Riley Kid of the Week.
"I want to shout out Riley Osmon from Bedford. He loves drawing, loves video games and, most importantly, he loves Legos, so shout out to Riley, appreciate it, congratulations for being the kid of the week," Franklin said.
