INDIANAPOLIS — Welcome to Inside the Huddle, brought to you by Republic Airways.
As always, Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner joins us. First off, congratulations on breaking that ugly three-game losing streak. Is the attitude and mood around here a little different?
"Oh yeah, definitely a little different," Buckner said. "Everybody has a little extra pep in their step, you know, obviously, coming off a win but we've gotta continue this momentum."
What you saw Anthony Richardson do on the offensive side of the ball Sunday against the Jets, that is a confidence booster for him and this entire team.
"Most definitely, you know what I mean? He came out after being benched the last couple of weeks and had a helluva game, a career game for himself and it's a good spot to build off of," said Buckner.
Now the top dogs are coming to town, the Lions are on top of the NFC, playing great football right now. The defensive line's gotta bring it.
"Definitely, the game's gonna be won or lost in the trenches and up front, defensively, and up front on the offensive side, you know, we've gotta dominate the line of scrimmage," Buckner said.
Detroit is averaging 33 points per game, best in the league right now. What is the key? It's all about the trench, right, getting it done up front.
"Yeah, definitely in the run game and obviously we want to set a new line of scrimmage but also clear communication throughout the entire defense, make sure everybody is in their spots and being disciplined, executing at a high level," said Buckner.
Riley Kid of the Week
It's time for the Riley Kid of the Week, who are we honoring this week?
"The Kid of the Week, we've got Cory Buwalda from Fort Wayne. He loves playing guitar and drums and he also runs a small business, making bracelets and selling them to benefit Riley Hospital," Buckner said.
