INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner joins us again this week for Inside the Huddle.
The Colts have won three games in a row and moved in to a wild card playoff spot. The town is buzzing, but the team has to stay focused.
"Definitely," Buckner said. "You gotta take it one week at a time, you know what I mean? We've got this three game winning streak. You know, we just gotta keep knocking them off one week at a time."
The team learned Tuesday that Jonathan Taylor (thumb) is out for a couple of weeks.
"Yeah, that is definitely tough, you know what I mean? He was just hitting his groove, you know, getting back, making some big plays for us. But luckily we got Zack Moss, you know what I mean? Zack started off the year for us when JT wasn't playing, and, you know, he's a workhorse, so you know I mean, we're expecting him to get more touches," said Buckner.
The Colts defense has been dominating recently. We asked Buckner what has changed.
"Yeah, I think it just goes to, you know, the guys staying on the details, you know what I'm saying, and trusting in one another," said Buckner. "Finally getting the rush and coverage working together, you know what I mean? That's resulting in more sacks, putting more pressure on the quarterback. You love to see that."
It's a matchup with the Titans in Nashville this weekend, a team the Colts beat back in October. It can be hard to beat a team twice in a season.
"Oh, especially in a division game," Buckner said. "And you know, they're undefeated at home right now, so it's gonna be a dogfight. It's gonna be a physical one, you know what I mean? The division games always are, especially being at their place, so, you know, we gotta be on our Ps and Qs and come out ready to go."
Each Wednesday on Inside the Huddle, we'll have the Riley Kid of the Week.
"Riley Kid of the Week, we got Beckett Culp. He's from Noblesville. He's a preschooler and loves playing outside. That's my type of guy," said Buckner.
NOTE: Inside the Huddle is brought to you by Republic Airways Lift Academy. Each week, Republic makes a donation to Riley Hospital for Children in honor of Deforest Buckner.
