INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner joins us this week for "Inside the Huddle."
The Colts are preparing for a matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It comes on the heels of an ugly loss last week in Cincinnati.
"Yeah, it was a tough loss," Buckner said. "We just got outplayed in all three phases. Hurt ourselves in a bunch of situations. Yeah. Can't turn the ball over. And, you know, they made big plays when the needed them."
Indianapolis plays on Saturday this weekend. After the loss at Cincinnati, the short week probably has some benefit to the team.
"Definitely, get that bad taste out of our mouth," Buckner said. "We've got the Steelers coming in this week. You know, we're back at home, playing on Saturday, one of the only games on, so you know obviously, this is the most important game of the season 'cause it's the next game, you know, we gotta stay in the race. It's gonna be a good one."
The Colts are one of six AFC teams with a 7-6 record, perhaps making Saturday's a "gotta have it" game.
"Definitely gotta have it game," Buckner said. "You know, the guys know, obviously, the stakes of this game and, you know, we're gonna be on our details this week."
Indianapolis will see another backup quarterback in Mitch Trubisky this weekend.
"You know, with Mitch, obviously, he's been known around the league to use his legs, and you know he'll try to get out of sticky situations, so we've got to do a really good job with containing him in the pocket up front, and you know, in the back end, we've got to have some sticky coverage so we can get back home," Buckner said.
Each Wednesday on Inside the Huddle, we'll have the Riley Kid of the Week.
"It's Oliver Gilkison, he's from West Lafayette. He likes hanging out with his friends," Buckner said.
Inside the Huddle is brought to you by Republic Airways Lift Academy. Each week, Republic makes a donation to Riley Hospital for Children in honor of DeForest Buckner.
