INDIANAPOLIS — Hi everybody, welcome Inside the Huddle. Dave Calabro hanging out with Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, good to see you. We've got a huge game coming up, but first, let's talk about the bye week. Did you have a chance to unplug a little?
"Yeah, got to get away a little bit, took the family down to Chicago, spent some time down there. Came back and went to watch my Ducks dominate the Big Ten," said Buckner.
How about that, your Oregon Ducks are rolling.
"Oh yeah, they're definitely rolling, you just just line 'em up, we're gonna knock 'em down," Buckner said.
So now it's your turn, you guys have a big game coming up Sunday. A lot of people say this is a playoff game.
"Definitely, my mindset is we ain't fighting to get into the playoffs, we're already in it, you know what I mean?" said Buckner. "So we gotta take it one week at a time, the Broncos is next, the guys gotta come out today with urgency."
What's been the message from the coaches? You step into this big role, trying to knock off the Broncos.
"You know, just urgency, you know what I mean? Attention to detail. We really just gotta knock down the little errors we have in all phases and approach this week with everything that we've got and everything's gonna fall in place," said Buckner.
You're facing a quarterback that's red hot right now, Bo Nix. What have you seen from this young kid?
"Yeah, he's a great dual threat quarterback, you know what I mean? They ran him a little bit more early in the season and he's been throwing it a lot more. He's doing a really good job, extending plays, so we've gotta really try to condense that pocket and overwhelm him," said Buckner.
Riley Kid of the Week
Each week we honor a kid, a Riley Kid of the Week.
"The kid of the week, we've got Leo Galvez from Noblesville. You can follow his journey on TikTok at BraveLittleLeo," Buckner said.
