INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is back with us this week on Inside the Huddle after being out for a couple of weeks. First off, how are you feeling?
"I feel great. I mean, glad to be back in the mix and back on the show," said Buckner.
And it's good to have you back on the field. Let's start with the big news, a change at quarterback. Joe Flacco has been named the starter for the rest of the year. What are your thoughts about that change?
"Yeah, I mean, it was a decision by the higher ups to make and, you know, all we can do as a team is get behind Joe and, you know, obviously we're still behind (Anthony Richardson) as well, you know what I'm saying? He's a young player, he's still developing and, you know, I mean, we can only be there for him and we got to rally around Joe," Buckner said.
The team is at 4-4, you're right there in the mix of things right now. You win a couple of games and you've got a shot at some wild card playoff game.
"Yeah, definitely," Buckner said. "That's the plan, you know, just gotta take it one week at a time and do everything we can to stack up these wins."
What have you seen from the team? You guys have been in so many games, so close, this record could be much better easily, you know.
"Yeah, it's just a couple of plays in crunch time where we need to make and we came up short. Yeah, I mean, every game has been a one score game that we've lost and, you know, we've just gotta iron out the details and find a way to make those plays," said Buckner.
Up next, it's Minnesota on Sunday Night Football. As a veteran, is that still special?
No, definitely, you know what I mean? You got the whole country watching. It's definitely a great opportunity to show everybody what we got," Buckner said.
Riley Kids of the Week
For the Riley Kids of the Week, we've got brother and a sister this time.
"Yeah, we got a brother and a sister, we got Addyson and Leo. They're from Lafayette and they both love playing baseball," said Buckner.
And thank you to Republic Airways, a big donation because DeForest Buckner is here with us on Inside the Huddle.
