INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for a long trip this weekend to play the New England Patriots.
Indianapolis snapped a three-game losing streak with a win last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
On Inside the Huddle, defensive lineman DeForest Buckner said the win felt great.
“Going on the road, coming up with a big win, breaking that three-game losing streak, it was definitely a good confidence booster for us,” Buckner said.
It was a game where the defense really stepped up.
“It felt great,” Buckner said. “Defensively, the past couple of weeks, you know, we’ve been dropping the ball. We wanted to get that bitter taste out of our mouth, and obviously, we just came out, you know, ready to go, on the details, communicating. Obviously, there’s some things we can still, you know, clean up. We just wanted to set the tone early."
Buckner singled out Kenny Moore II’s remarkable effort against Carolina.
“The legend himself, Kenny Moore II, coming up with two pick-sixes, you know, first time in franchise history. It was a hell of a game," Buckner said.
The Colts play in Germany this weekend — a first for Buckner.
“I’ve never been to Germany,” Buckner said. “It’s definitely going to be quite a trip, you know what I mean, with a nine-hour flight. It’s going to be a great experience, you know, for the team."
13 Sports director Dave Calabro asked Buckner about preparations the team makes for such a trip.
“With the travel, it’s going to be tough, but, I mean, it’s another business trip, you know what I mean? The guys know what’s at stake and what we gotta do. It’s another game we can, you know, stack in the winning column and get to .500 before we go into the bye," Buckner said.
Each Wednesday on Inside the Huddle, we'll have the Riley Kid of the Week.
“Yeah, we’ve got a fourth-grader, his name’s Jonathin Perez. I just want to say shout out to you, Jonathin, and keep fighting,” Buckner said.
Inside the Huddle is brought to you by Republic Airways Lift Academy. Each week, Republic makes a donation to Riley Hospital for Children in honor of DeForest Buckner.
