INDIANAPOLIS — We are just over three months away from the start of the NFL season, but the Indianapolis Colts were on the field Tuesday. The team got back to work at a three-day minicamp, a mandatory event for players.
The minicamp is a chance to put together a plan for the actual training camp this summer.
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson looked as good as new.
“It’s really excitement," head coach Shane Steichen said. "Coming off that shoulder injury, the way he's attacked his rehab and going into all these offseason program deals in practice and just the way he's been in meetings, around the building around with the guys. Taking ownership in everything he does, especially in walk-throughs, making sure we're wired up in there. He’s been tremendous. So, really looking forward to the season with him.”
Steichen talked about the importance of the three-day camp.
“I think it's big," Steichen said. "I think the message I told the guys, right, we're about communication right now, energy, tempo, competing, and then really finishing strong heading into training camp. But these next three days are going to be big. We get the walk-thrus in the morning, practice in the afternoons – will be big for our guys. So, we're excited about that. I like where our team is at right now. We've just got to finish strong this week.”
It's a solid starting point, leading to a new season. Can this team accomplish more than last year's 9-8 finish? There's a lot on the line.
