INDIANAPOLIS β After suddenly being waived from the Indianapolis Colts roster, linebacker Shaquille Leonard is heading to Dallas β and could be staying there.
Leonard's leave from the Colts was announced just under a week ago after he allegedly asked the team for a November meeting.
Now, he is set to visit the Dallas Cowboys Tuesday, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.
Dallas currently stands at 8-3 this season, leaving them in second for the NFC East division of the NFL. Pelissero believes the team could use some more linebacker strength after it released Leighton Esch.
Leonard began his NFL career in 2018 for the Colts when he was voted Associated Press' "NFL Defensive Player of the Year" and received three first-team All-Pro recognitions.
He would later be thwarted by multiple injuries in 2022.
"The Menace" started nine games for the Colts this season and said there was no hard feelings despite feeling hurt.
At 28 years old, Leonard had four years left on a mega contract, but had an out at the end of this season.
βIβm thankful for the energy Shaq brought to our team on a daily basis. Heβs a competitor, a leader, and is respected among his teammates. I wish him all the best,β Colts head coach Shane Steichen said.
