INDIANAPOLIS — Local and national media members are applauding Colts General Manager Chris Ballard for his transparency this year. The Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) named Ballard the winner of the 2020 Jack Horrigan Award, given to the NFL official who has been most professional and helpful to NFL writers.
Ballard is the first member of the Colts franchise to win the award. He previously won PFWA's Executive of the Year award in 2018.
Pro football writers hold Ballard in high regard for his availability, transparency and candor.
Other nominees for the award were Baltimore Ravens Executive Vice President Kevin Byrne, Dallas Cowboys Owner/President/General Manager Jerry Jones, Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn and NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy.
