Purdue fans celebrate team's Final Four win at Mackey Arena

Mackey Arena hosted a watch party for Purdue's game against NC State.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Explosive is just one word used to describe Purdue's win over NC State Saturday. 

"Let's go Boilers!" shouted a groups of fans as they walked out of Mackey Arena.

It's the moment every Boiler fan has been waiting for. The moment the Purdue Boilermakers would make it to the NCAA national title game.

Before fans packed Mackey Arena, many gathered off campus outside their homes for a pre-party.

"This year being able to come back from the lowest of lows to be like in the Final Four, I think we have one of the best coaches Matt Painter. He put together one of the best teams," said Vikas Devulapalli, a junior.

"I'm proud of them for making it this far and I'm hopeful that they've got enough wins under their belt that they've got like the fear and anxiety out of the way, and they can win this," said Isabel Vongunten.

The last time Purdue made it to the final four was in 1980. On Saturday, Purdue reached their first national title game since 1969.

This game had fans stunned at Purdue's turnovers, but most of it was quickly followed by pure excitement.

Fans are now hoping the team can go all the way.

"I mean I wish it happened earlier. I'm happy it happened now. My dad is an alum. I wish he was here to see it too, but still happy none the less," said Keaton Haughan.

Fans are now ready to win it all.
