Indiana State advances to MVC Tournament championship with 94-72 win over Northern Iowa

ST. LOUIS — Robbie Avila had 21 points and Ryan Conwell had a double-double in Indiana State's 94-72 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday night in a semifinal of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Avila shot 8 for 13, including 5 for 6 from beyond the arc for the Sycamores (28-5). Conwell had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Julian Larry scored 17 points, while adding seven assists.

The Panthers (19-14) were led in scoring by Jacob Hutson, who finished with 21 points. Bowen Born added 12 points and four assists for Northern Iowa. Nate Heise also recorded 10 points.

Avila scored 14 points in the first half and the Sycamores led 44-33 at the break. Indiana State extended its lead to 90-60 during the second half, fueled by a 9-0 scoring run. Larry scored a team-high 11 points in the second half.
