College basketball player suspended, kicked off campus for elbowing opponent

A college basketball player in Massachusetts has been suspended for elbowing another team's player in the face after a three-point shot.

FITCHBURG, Mass. (WTHR) - A college basketball player in Massachusetts has been suspended for elbowing another team's player in the face after a three-point shot.

It happened at Fitchburg State University Tuesday night.

Just after Nichols College guard Nate Tenaglia made a three-point shot, Fitchburg State's Kewan Platt leveled him with a vicious elbow and was ejected from the game.

Wednesday, Platt was not only suspended from the team, but also barred from campus. The school said it was "appalled" by its player's conduct and is considering further sanctions.

The university also apologized to Tenaglia and Nichols College for the incident. Tenaglia was able to continue the game, which his team won, 84-75.
