INDIANAPOLIS — The NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis is Feb. 18, and the impact of the game goes far beyond the court.
The game will feature the return of both the classic matchup between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference and the traditional scoring system with four 12-minute quarters.
The teams will also be playing to benefit charities in Indiana.
The East will play for Special Olympics Indiana.
The West will play for Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis.
Each team will start the NBA All-Star Game with $100,000. There will be an additional $240,000 awarded to the charity of the winning team.
The 73rd NBA All-Star Game is projected to bring in $320 million in economic impact for central Indiana, according to projections by Temple University Sports Industry Research Center.
The All-Star Weekend will have 150,000 ticketed opportunities for fans from around the world.
The game and surrounding events are expected to attract 125,000 visitors.
