NBA All-Star Host Committee announces 24 'Rising Stars' legacy grant recipients

The grants are worth $2,400 and are to be used for students to pay for college, university or any other postsecondary institution after their high school graduation.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis NBA All-Star Host Committee announced Wednesday that they have awarded NBA All-Star Legacy Grants to 24 Indiana high school students.

The grants are worth $2,400 and are to be used for students to pay for college, university or any other postsecondary institution after their high school graduation. 

The NBA All-Star Host Committee originally committed to completing 21 Legacy Grant projects and recognizing 21 Rising Stars. Since the All-Star game's move to 2024, the total grant projects awarded has grown to 24. 

“Recognizing 21 Rising Stars in 2021 for leadership in their schools and communities was extraordinary,” said Rick Fuson, NBA All-Star Board of Directors and Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO. “We are honored to recognize 24 additional students as they are both a testament to their schools, selves, and communities and to the commitment of our Legacy Grantees to serving the youth in their communities.”

Here is a list of recipients, along with the legacy grantee:

  • Carrie Collins, Southwood Junior-Senior High School (White's Residential & Family Services)
  • DeAndre Cooper, Hammond Central High School (Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana)
  • Brayden Huebner, Evansville North High School (Dream Center Evansville)
  • Autumn Joshua, Believe Circle City High School (Aspire House)
  • Devon Kelley, Liberty Christian High School (Project H.O.P.E.)
  • Aarna Koduru, Terre Haute South Vigo High School (Chances and Services for Youth)
  • Cade Mahin, Morristown High School (Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources)
  • Kathy (Zee) Melinger, Noblesville High School (Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville)
  • Elliott Mohre, Edon Northwest (Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disablities)
  • Destiny Morales, Bedford North Lawrence High School (Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County)
  • Lacey Pickering, Delphi Community High School (L & A Park Foundation)
  • Delainey Predmore, Salem High School (Washington County Family YMCA)
  • Charlize Pruitt, Christel House at Manual (Concord Neighborhood Center)
  • Baeli Renie, Knightstown Community High School (Knightstown Kids Inc.)
  • Isaac Robertson, North Central High School (Christamore House)
  • Gage Sims, Jay County Jr-Sr High School (Jay County Boys & Girls Club)
  • Fatoumata Sow, Ben Davis High School (Jameson Camp)
  • Sarah Stine, Bremen High School (Boys & Girls Clubs of Marshall County)
  • Tala Tannir, Career Academy South Bend (Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County)
  • Zoe Trakas, Chesterton High School (Duneland Family YMCA)
  • Jayla Williams, Ben Davis High School (Hawthorne Community Center)

The NBA All-Star Legacy Grants focus on youth-oriented nonprofit organizations across the state of Indiana. The initiative has an estimated impact on 90,000 youth throughout the state.
