Indianapolis restaurants, bars get ready for NBA All-Star Game

The Block Bistro and Grill plans to increase hours next week and bring its menu to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

INDIANAPOLIS — Super Bowl Sunday kicks off a busy week for bars and restaurants in Indianapolis. While businesses are hosting parties Sunday, Monday morning will start the plans to seat more people coming in for NBA All-Star Weekend.

"You'll never always be ready for things like this. Your heart starts to race a little bit, and you get excited," said Terry Anthony, executive lead chef for The Block Bistro & Grill.

The Block is hosting a smaller crowd Sunday to watch the Super Bowl, which helps give them time to get ready for everyone coming downtown throughout the week.

"We want the chance to have the city come in and just celebrate and watch the big game, but get ready for our big game next week," Anthony said.

The Block plans to increase hours next week and bring its menu to Gainbridge Fieldhouse because Anthony was chosen as the celebrity guest chef for the weekend.

"We are ready to show off our city and have a really good time," Anthony said.

The Block not only wants everyone coming in from out of town to look at its menu, but also all of the people who make up the host city.
