Fans cheer athletes, influencers at The Players Ball

The event on the court at Hinkle Fieldhouse was just a taste of what's to come during NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS — NBA All-Star Weekend is bringing some of the biggest names in basketball to Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, athletes and influencers got in some time on the court at Hinkle Fieldhouse. It was just a taste of what's to come during a big week in Indy.

Fans went wild watching their favorite icons take the court. The guest list included Justin Jefferson, Terrell Owens, Keith Lee, Max Is Nice, Jenna Bandy, La Griddy and more.

"This is Indiana, so we know how to do basketball," fan Dian Foreman said.

The city is ready to show everyone how it's done, starting with the Players Ball Hoops and Icons event at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

"I'm just excited," Foreman said. "It's great to see Terrell Owens, Keith Lee, all the folks here."

The players competed in a team skills challenge, 3-point shootout and a dunk contest, giving their all for the fans in the stands.

"It's very fun to meet all these amazing celebrities and stuff," Eli Barker said.

And with more than 125,000 fans expected in town this weekend, the real winner here is Indianapolis.

"This is a great opportunity to showcase how great it is. We don't get opportunities like this very often," Jeremy Barker said.

"To have everyone to come and have the spotlight on Indiana, we are such gracious hosts. I'm excited for people to be able to understand what that Hoosier hospitality is like and understand that Naptown vibe," Foreman said.
