INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Did you know it was him all along?
Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo was unmasked as the Thingamajig on "The Masked Singer" — one week short of the Season 2 finale.
The two-time NBA All-Star shared the news on Instagram following Wednesday night's episode and apologized to everyone he lied to in order to keep his identity a secret.
Oladipo, whose debut album "V.O" dropped in November 2018, also said he has more music coming out soon.
The Pacers guard had time to participate in the reality series after suffering a season-ending quad injury in January. However, Oladipo revealed in October he is making steady progress and participated in scrimmages at practice, but no timetable was given on his return.
Judge Ken Jeong correctly guessed the Thingamajig's identity before the big reveal.
Contestants give the audience clues each week prior to performing in regards to who they are. Hoosiers were likely in on the Thingamajig's identity early on based on some of his clues:
- The Thingamajig was seen blowing out a candle with the number "4" on it — referring to his jersey number
- He said he's never been called Chewbacca but said the "Star Wars" character and he do "celebrate together." Star Wars Day falls on May 4 — May the fourth be with you — which also happens to be Oladipo's birthday.
- The Thingamajig said he suffered a recent setback, which is likely in reference to his season-ending quad injury.
