INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers have re-signed a key player as the team looks to improve on its Eastern Conference Finals berth last season.

On Saturday, the Pacers announced it had signed forward Obi Toppin to a new deal, keeping him in the blue and gold for the immediate future. Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not released. However, the Associated Press reported last month that the two sides were nearing a a four-year deal worth nearly $60 million.

“Obi Toppin embraced our city, our team, and his role from the moment he arrived, and then proved time and again to be an integral part of the success we achieved last season in reaching the Eastern Conference Finals,” said Pacers president Kevin Pritchard. “Obi’s style of play, selfless attitude, and work ethic are all consistent with the culture we’ve built here, and we’re confident he will play a key role for us moving forward.”

Last season, Toppin averaged a career-best 10.3 points per game while also averaging career-highs in rebounds and assists per game.
