COLUMBIA, S.C. — Less than a week after suffering serious injuries in a crash with a semi-truck in South Carolina, NASCAR driver and Noblesville native Chris Hacker shared updates on social media about his recovery process.

Hacker posted on social media shortly before 12:45 p.m. Feb. 18 that his nasogastric tube was removed earlier that morning and he was cleared to begin eating again. He shared a photo of his hospital meal, which featured cups of pudding and apple juice.

In addition to the update from Hacker himself, Nathan Blasdell, a friend of Hacker's and regular in the NASCAR garage area, posted an extended message on X detailing Hacker's injuries.

Blasdell said Hacker suffered "multiple" thoracic fractures in his spine, a ruptured spleen that had to be removed, a collapsed lung, internal bleeding, a lacerated kidney and a lacerated adrenal gland.

Hacker's condition was upgraded from "critical" to "stable" following the removal of his spleen, according to Blasdell.

Blasdell said doctors do not have a timetable for when Hacker will be able to return home. He is reportedly making progress but still has a "long recovery ahead."

Finally, Blasdell said Hacker and his family have been overwhelmed with the amount of support they've been given. He said those wishing to send Hacker a get well card can do so using the following mailing address:
