IndyCar drivers all love winning, but they have different favorite traditions at the Indy 500

The IndyCar drivers don't hold back as they talk with Dave Calabro over Milk & Cookies.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. — As IndyCar drivers return to the track, another May tradition returns to 13News.

13 Sports director Dave Calabro spent a little time talking to the drivers over some Milk & Cookies.

They talked about who, dead or alive, they wish they could talk to and their favorite Indy 500 traditions.

Dead or alive — who do you wish you could talk to

Ed Carpenter: I'd like to talk to George Washington. I think he would be an interesting one.

Will Power: Albert Einstein would be an interesting one to have a conversation with. Someone with high intelligence and especially in this era – say, "What do you think of AI and where it would go?"

Hélio Castroneves: Great minds like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk. I would love to talk to those guys spend some time to see how do they come up to that? How much risk they took, and how they keep it going?

Santino Ferrucci: I think it'd be really cool to like sit down with like a Einstein or someone like that or like a Churchill. Honestly, I'd love to have a cigar with Churchill. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Favorite Indy 500 tradition

Graham Rahal: I mean ... someday I hope it's that (gestures to drinking milk).

Carpenter: I'd say the parade is my favorite kind of annual thing, just because, it's away from the track ... whole family is included ... community's all involved. It's a fun time.

Sting Ray Robb: The one I remember the most from last year was the flyover. I was fine until then, but once that flyover happened, it was like the waterworks happened, which is not good because we're getting in race cars. I can't be crying when I sit in a race car.

Alexander Rossi: It's the national anthem. Because everyone goes quiet ... it's silence ... but you look around and everyone's there. And everyone's paying attention. And it's just, it's really hard not to cry.

Ferrucci: I love the walkout for the race. There's nothing cooler. I mean you are literally that guy when you walk out through Gasoline Alley with all the boys, you know, everybody got the music blasting. Like ... that is the coolest.

Marcus Ericsson: It's such an iconic moment, you know, that winner photo when you're drinking or pouring or whatever you do. But like, that photo with the milk is such a legendary photo. And that moment, I actually remember that very strongly when I got that milk after winning the race. It's pretty cool.
