INDIANAPOLIS — One of the greatest Independence Day traditions in Indianapolis is back again in 2024.
The Indianapolis Indians make it their mission to deliver a Fourth of July home game to baseball fans in Indy.
In fact, since Victory Field opened on July 11, 1996, the Indians have played at home every July 4. After all, what is more American than the country's favorite pastime paired with ballpark hot dogs, cold drinks and fireworks?
This year, the Indians take on the Louisville Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
The July 4 matchup is the start of a three-game homestand against the Bats, with The Tribe in action July 4, July 5 and July 6.
The Indians will wear specialty Fourth of July jerseys and Stars 'n Stripes caps on the 4th. The jerseys will then be auctioned off to fans. Text VICTORY to 79230 to enter. Bidding starts when the gates open and closes at the end of the seventh inning. Profits will benefit Indianapolis Indians Charities.

The Tribe play a total of 75 home games during the 2024 season, but officials say none are bigger than the Fourth of July.
Gates open for Thursday's game at 5:30 p.m., with the first pitch set for 6:35. After the game, fans will see the largest fireworks show of the season against the Indianapolis skyline.
