INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts are sticking with head coach Frank Reich and general manager Chris Ballard through the 2026 season.
The Colts organization made the announcement Wednesday morning.
“In Chris Ballard and Frank Reich, we have as great a general manager–head coach combination as there is in the NFL, and I can’t tell you how proud I am to have them leading our franchise,” Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay said in a news release. “I truly believe this football team is on the doorstep of great things, and that’s because of the culture both have cultivated in their time with the Horseshoe. Whether we are marching toward the playoffs or facing adversity, whether we are building our roster or making a difference in the community, we have the ideal leaders in Chris and Frank.”
Ballard was hired as general manager Jan. 29, 2017. He was named the 2018 NFL Executive of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA).
Ballard also became the first member of the Colts to be selected as the 2020 Jack Horrigan Award winner by the PFWA, which is given to the league or club official for his or her qualities and professional style in helping the pro football writers do their job.
Reich rejoined the Colts Feb. 11, 2018 for the head coaching position after previously spending six years on the team's coaching staff from 2006-2011.
Reich was named AFC Coach of the Year in 2018 and has led the Colts to the playoffs in two of his first three seasons as head coach.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz returned to practice Tuesday after undergoing foot surgery. While Wentz was walking around out on the field, he did not practice with the team.
The starting quarterback, who the Colts picked up in a trade deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in March, is expected to be out for five to 12 weeks from his Aug. 2 surgery.
A five-week recovery would have Wentz ready for the first regular-season game against the Seattle Seahawks. Twelve weeks would have him missing the first seven regular-season games, and returning Sunday, Oct. 31 against the Tennessee Titans.
The Colts will host the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. in the team's first preseason game of the season.
Single-game tickets are now on sale at Colts.com/Tickets or Ticketmaster.com.
