IUPUI fires men's head basketball coach

Crenshaw joined the Jaguars program as a player himself in 2000 and remains the school's all-time leader in assists.

INDIANAPOLIS — IUPUI has announced that head men's basketball coach Matt Crenshaw has been relieved of his duties.

The Director of Athletics at IUPUI, Luke Bosso, made the announcement March 6.

"I want to thank Coach Crenshaw for his countless contributions to the IUPUI basketball program as a student-athlete, assistant coach and ultimately as head coach. These decisions are never easy and aren't taken lightly, but we wish Matt nothing but the best going forward," Bosso said.

Crenshaw joined the Jaguars program as a player himself in 2000 and remains the school's all-time leader in assists. He also captained IUPUI's NCAA Tournament team in 2003 and is one of three players in program history to have his jersey number retired. He joined the program again in April 2021 when he was announced as the new head coach.

Crenshaw leaves the school with a 14-79 record.

The university is now searching for the next IU Indianapolis head coach. Those interested in the position should email Jon LeCrone at jon@sp-athletic.com.
