'Hoosier Historia' high school basketball art will provide trip down memory lane

The art will be on display at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during All-Star weekend, which kicks off Feb. 16.

INDIANAPOLIS — This one is called "Hoosier Historia."

It involves local artists giving Hoosiers a trip down memory lane in the history of high school basketball in the state.

A committee looked at the last 100 years of Indiana high school basketball. A select number of artists get to bring those moments to life.

Danny Lopez, with Pacers Sports and Entertainment, said historians, former coaches, former players and others came together to make it happen. The top 24 moments were selected.

"Those are the 24 that were selected to be assigned to artists here in Indiana. The interpretations of those moments are going to be painted on these six-foot high basketball sculptures," Lopez said.

The artists and their works include Kevin James Wilson's "Crispus Attucks and a Culture Shift in Indiana Basketball" and "Ben Davis Girls Basketball Tallies Longest Winning Streak in State History" by Tasha Beckwith.

The art will be on display around Gainbridge Fieldhouse during All Star weekend, which kicks off Feb. 16.
