INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Race car driver John Andretti was laid to rest in a private burial service Thursday afternoon.
Marco and Michael Andretti, John's godson and cousin, led the pallbearers after a public Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral Catholic Church in downtown Indianapolis.
A small funeral procession led the hearse around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where a tribute to John Andretti shined on the scoring pylon on the front stretch.
Another service was held in North Carolina earlier this week, where John Andretti lived after retiring from NASCAR.
He died last week after a three-year battle with colon cancer.
