FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) - Hamilton Southeastern junior Carly Mills grew up playing several sports, but at a young age decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps to play volleyball.
“It was crazy. We always got in fights, I always tried to be better than her and she’d try to be better than me,” Carly remembers. “Her being into volleyball and playing at the high school, I wanted to do that when I was older.”
Fast forward to today, and Carly is the star libero for the Royals.
“I try to be the vocal leader. I try to keep it positive and off the court, in team huddles, I try to build them up in practice, talk to them, give them advice.”
Last fall, Carly made the decision to continue her career on the court at Indiana University.
“I’ve kinda grown around Bloomington. My parents went there, my sister’s now there,” said Carly. “It’s kinda always been my dream to go somewhere close. It was super exciting.”
Before she takes her talents to Bloomington, Carly is focused on helping lead HSE to a state championship. The Royals topped McCutcheon last weekend to claim the regional title.
