INDIANAPOLIS — There's even more conference realignment happening in Indiana high school athletics.

Seven Marion County schools have announced the formation of a new conference, named the Capital City Conference, that is set to begin play beginning the 2024-25 IHSAA season. Arsenal Tech, Crispus Attucks, Christel House Manual, George Washington, Herron, Purdue Polytechnic Englewood and Tindley will be credited as founding members.

Attucks, Christel House, Washington, Purdue Poly and Tindley will depart the Greater Indianapolis Conference and be joined by IHSAA independents Herron and Tech.

"As we embark on this thrilling new adventure, the Capital City Conference is committed to fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among its members," read part of a statement from the new conference. "The Conference emphasizes not only the athletic competitiveness of its participants but also the values of teamwork, integrity, and perseverance."

This new conference announcement comes nearly a week after eight schools in Montgomery, Putnam, Clinton, Boone and Hendricks counties formed the "Monon Athletic Conference."

The Greater Indianapolis Conference will reduce to Irvington Prep, Indiana Math & Science Academy, Indianapolis Metropolitan, Riverside, Eminence, Central Christian and Victory College Prep.
