INDIANAPOLIS — Mike Kirschner, head coach of the Warren Central football team, announced Thursday he has resigned his position.

Kirschner took over the reigns of the Warriors' football team in 2021 after three winning seasons with the Mount Vernon Marauders. Prior to his time at Mount Vernon, Kirschner served as the head coach at Ben Davis where he oversaw two state championships in 2014 and 2017.

During his time as the Warriors' head coach, Kirschner amassed a 26-19 record, with his best coming this past season when Warren Central posted a 10-2 record, but lost to 8-4 Center Grove in the regional championship.

Despite his resignation from the football team, Kirschner says he's staying at Warren Central to continue his duties as athletic director.

The school is now searching for Kirschner's replacement.
