No. 4 Hamilton SE uses big fourth quarter to beat Avon 28-10 | Operation Football

Hamilton Southeastern moves to 1-0 in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference following the win.

AVON, Ind. — After moving up four spots in the most recent Indiana Football Coaches Association poll, the Hamilton Southeastern Royals might be poised to move up even higher after Friday night's victory over the Avon Orioles.

After a scoreless first quarter, Avon finally broke through just before midway in the second quarter. Bryce Reynolds punched in a 2-yard rushing touchdown and T.J. Stewart knocked through the PAT to put the Orioles up 7-0.

The Royals responded later with a 3-yard touchdown from Carter Reed to even the score at 7-7 at halftime.

Late in the third, Avon kicker T.J. Stewart hit a 32-yard field goal to put the Orioles back in the lead. However, the lead was short-lived as Carter Reed scored his second rushing touchdown of the day just before the end of the third quarter to put HSE up 14-10 heading into the final quarter.

Unfortunately for Avon, the game would be mostly downhill from here. Ty Earlewine scored on a pick-six, giving the Royals a 21-10 lead before Kendrick Pennybaker caught a 5-yard touchdown pass with about a minute to play to seal the game for Hamilton Southeastern.
