FISHERS, Ind. — From the moment of kickoff, there was never a doubt the Westfield Shamrocks had the advantage over the Fishers Tigers on Friday night.

The Shamrocks entered the game with a 6-1 record and tied for second overall in Class 6A with Crown Point. The Tigers, meanwhile, are watching their once-promising season start to slowly unravel.

Westfield started hot with a 78-yard rushing touchdown by junior running back Deacon King to put the Shamrocks up 6-0 after a missed PAT just minutes into the game. Not long after, King scored his second touchdown of the night on the ground when he pushed his way into the end zone for a 2-yard score. Diego Herrera's PAT put Westfield up 13-0 midway through the first quarter.

Defensively, the Shamrocks had the Tigers' number. Fishers struggled mightily in the first half and was completely shut out of the end zone.

Westfield quarterback Carsen Melvin found Parker Knott for an 18-yard touchdown to put the Shamrocks up 19-0 at the end of one. Two Diego Herrera field goals extended Westfield's lead to 25-0 at halftime.

At the start of the second half, Fishers finally found the end zone when junior running back Ryan Thembulembu broke free for a 36-yard rushing touchdown. A missed PAT meant the Tigers trailed 25-6 early in the second half.

Westfield, however, responded promptly. Deacon King scored his third and fourth rushing touchdowns of the day to extend their lead to 39-6 at the start of the final quarter.

Thembulembu was able to score once more for the Tigers, but Westfield kept pouring it on. A Karson Fitzpatrick 2-yard rushing touchdown with around two minutes to play sealed the already wrapped up game in favor of the Shamrocks.
