No. 6 Plainfield routs Whiteland en route to 32-7 win | Operation Football

With the win, Plainfield moves to 7-1 overall, but still trails Martinsville in the Mid-State Conference standings.

PLAINFIELD, Ind. — The Plainfield Quakers responded to a scoreless first quarter by scoring 32 unanswered points on the Whiteland Warriors en route to their seventh victory of the IHSAA football season.

Both teams got off to a slow start offensively. It wasn't until around three minutes left in the first quarter that either team scored a touchdown. Whiteland's senior running back Slate Valentine punched his way into the end zone to put the Warriors up 7-0.

Whiteland finished the first half with a 7-0 lead over Plainfield, but it was the last time they'd see themselves in the lead of the game. Plainfield responded quickly, with sophomore quarterback Bryce Sebanc using his feet to get into the end zone. A two-point conversion gave the Quakers a 8-7 lead.

From there, the Plainfield offense became unstoppable. Sophomore wide receiver Ethan Ellis caught a pass in the end zone with just seconds remaining in the half, putting Plainfield up 15-7 at the end of the second quarter.

Plainfield received the second half kickoff and immediately scored on their first drive of the half. One more score late in the third quarter iced the game in favor of the home team.

Plainfield scored only a field goal in the final quarter as the Warriors were shut out of the end zone the entire second half.

With the win, Plainfield moves to 7-1 overall, but still trails Martinsville in the Mid-State Conference standings. Whiteland falls to 3-4 and will likely also tumble in the Mid-State standings.
