INDIANAPOLIS — The first Friday night of Dave Calabro's final season of Operation Football takes him to his alma mater for a matchup between last year's 6A champion Ben Davis and the Cathedral Fighting Irish.
That means that the Operation Football Band of the Week is the Ben Davis Marching Giants!
The Marching Giants, historically, are one of the most successful marching bands in the state Indiana. The ensemble has won the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) state championship 14 times throughout the program's history. Between 1984 and 1988, the group won five consecutive Class A state championships.
Ben Davis competes in ISSMA Open Class A and Bands of America (BOA) class AAAA.
Their 2024 show is titled "Whirlwind" and features the following songs: "Windsprints" by Richard Saucedo, "The Boy Who Swallowed A Star" by Joe Hisaishi, "Flying Jewels" by James David.
