On Friday, Ben Davis opened defense of their Class 4A state title, hosting Franklin Central. The Flashes got a win earlier this season against Brownsburg under first-year head coach Kyle Ballard.
Valen Mosely hit a pair of threes to give Franklin Central an early lead on the road.
The Giants got rolling. K.J. Windham hit a three of his own and later went coast to coast for the nice finger roll. Ben Davis was up by four.
BD's Mark Zackery fed Windham for another three to extend the Giants' lead to eight. Windham would finish with 17 points.
Looking for a spark, the Flashes got a 3-point play when Dante Edwards drove to the basket and was fouled. He had 11 points in the game.
Franklin Central made a strong comeback in the second half, but Ben Davis held on to win, 57-53.
