WHITING, Ind. (WTHR) - The central Indiana sports scene has two new hall of famers.
Blue and Boomer, the mascots for the Colts and Pacers, were announced as inductees into the National Mascot Hall of Fame Wednedsay night in northern Indiana.

Blue was named NFL Mascot of the Year in 2016 and 2019 and is very involved in the community with over 100 school shows each year.
Boomer uses his athletic and comedic abilities to win over fans of all ages and earned the Recognition of Service Excellence (ROSE) Award from VisitIndy in 2015.

The mascots were selected as two of 10 finalists earlier this year and will be joined in the "Class of 2020" with Baltimore Orioles mascot "The Oriole Bird" and "Youppi!," a longtime mascot for the Montreal Expos who now entertains fans of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens.
The hall of fame's second class will be inducted June 12-15 next year at the National Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting.
