The Indiana Derby is on July 8th at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Rachel McLaughlin, Racing Analyst & Production Manager for the Indiana Derby shares, "It's the biggest day of our year."
This event is a big one. "Over a million in purses on the day. We have eight stakes races. Doors open at 10:30am and we start at noon." In terms of food, there will be a restaurant that takes reservations, two food options in the building, and food trucks downstairs.
McLaughlin explains this is a kid friendly event. "I think people don't really realize. We have a playground here. They think casino and gambling. They don't know that they can bring the kids. My kids have pretty much have grown up out here. And there's a lot of fun for the kids that day."
Other activities and entertainment include a jockey virtual reality, cigar rolling station, and hat contest.
