13INside Track talks to ASC about PCR testing plans

The Mayo Clinic says the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is also called a molecular test and detects genetic viral material using a special lab technique.

INDIANAPOLIS — To keep residents safe, American Senior Communities (ASC) facilities conduct PCR testing. Austin Steele, Regional VP of Operations, shares details about the PCR testing process. "This innovation is important because at the end of the day, we can get a wider variety of results back in a faster time... We are going to be able to put a plan of care in place for our residents at a quicker pace."

PCR provides results within 24 hours and tests for various infections such as the flu, COVID, respiratory viruses, urine infections, and more. Steele explains, "With just one swab that we can get a lot of variety of tests." PCR testing is expanding across ASC communities.
