"Most often we think about confusion. But what we really want to pay attention to is confusion in familiar situations. So, if you find that your loved one can't find the coffee, and they make coffee every day, that would be something that could alert you to a problem."
Other signs of cognitive decline are changes in mood and behavior or neglect of self and home care. When noticing issues, Kinzie recommends consulting a medical provider.
