BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Skywatchers looking for events to attend for the upcoming solar eclipse will have plenty of options throughout central Indiana, and Bloomington is no exception.
Indiana University is hosting the Hoosier Cosmic Celebration with multiple famous performers at Memorial Stadium from 1-5 p.m. April 8, when the moon blocks all sunlight for almost four minutes.
Ten-time Grammy Award-nominated artist and actress Janelle Monáe just announced she will be performing at the celebration on IU's campus.
She is scheduled to perform right after the eclipse, around 3:04 p.m.
In addition to her show, famous actor William Shatner, best known for his role as Captain Kirk in "Star Trek," will deliver a spoken-word performance just before the total eclipse of the sun.
Attendees will also get the chance to look at an actual Blue Origin space capsule and participate in space simulations at the event. It will be reconstructed and available for students and visitors to tour on the south side of the field.
Tickets for the Hoosier Comic Celebration go on sale Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. starting at $15 for students and $19 for everyone else.
