AGRA, India (WTHR) - Thunderstorms and rain wreaked havoc in northern India, damaging some portions of the iconic Taj Mahal.
City officials said the uprooting of trees and damage of public and private property during the thunderstorm on Friday night led to the deaths of three people, including a child.
The archeological department superintendent in agar said "A marble railing and two red sandstone screens, were damaged."
Along with the damage in the main mausoleum of the Taj Mahal, the garden was also heavily damaged with many trees being uprooted.
A gate and the ticket and security area were also reported damaged.
Rain is expected to continue over the next few days.
