WESTFIELD, Ind. โ A huge python caught wandering in Westfield is back at home.
The 14-year-old reptile is an albino Burmese python named Virginia.
Weighing in at 125 pounds and measuring 12 feet long, she was quite a surprise for the Westfield police, who found her on July 9.
The owner said a friend called to say the snake had escaped.
Virginia was found crawling through a garden near 146th Street and the Monon Trail. Westfield police called in the Exotic Animal Rescue and Pet Sanctuary, who were contacted by the owner.
According to the rescue, Virginia is a little bruised and dirty after her adventure but is in good condition.
She was picked up by her owner on the morning of July 10.
The owner said he rushed home to pick her up and then headed back on vacation.
