INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - You can put your "animal style" dreams to rest, despite a fast-spreading rumor about In-N-Out Burger expansion to the Hoosier State.
The "story" of the popular west coast burger chain's move into Indiana comes from the website "breakingnews247.net," which lets users write up news stories to "prank" their friends.
But even with obvious warning signs that this is another example of "fake news," folks are gobbling it up on social media, filling timelines with hopes and dreams of Double-Doubles and fries.
But it's not true.
In fact, a Google search turns up stories from within the past few years about the company's plan to NOT expand to the east. Currently, the closest In-N-Out to Indy is in Rockwall, Texas, a quick 12 hour, 54 minute drive to the suburbs of Dallas from downtown Indianapolis.
So, it's probably safe to say that even if the company does move east, Indiana has a bit of a wait ahead.
But it's always good to dream, right?
(We reached out to In-N-Out's corporate office for 100% confirmation on this cruel joke, but our messages have not yet been returned.)
