ONTARIO, Canada (WTHR) – The story of a stray dog caring for a litter of kittens on a Canadian roadside has gone viral.
The Pet and Wildlife Rescue in Chatham-Kent posted on its Facebook page Nov. 16 that the dog, named Serenity, was found keeping five kittens warm by a passing driver who called the shelter.
An animal control officer took the six to the shelter, according to the post.
The five kittens are in a foster home until they’re old enough to adopt.
Serenity has been drawing a great deal of interest from potential forever families, but she admitted in a Facebook post that she’s still not fully house trained.
Serenity is due to be spayed Dec. 3, then the adoption process can start, according to the shelter’s most recent post on Friday.
